Special Tuesdays scheduled for June 2-July 21

The Beau Porto Special Tuesdays recreation program will be held every Tuesday from June 2 through July 21 from 2-6 p.m. at the Ascension Civic Center on Airline Highway in Sorrento. The program includes activities, food and music. Parents, friends, families and personal care attendants are welcome. ‘Lights of Zion Health Fair’ set for June 6

A “Lights of Zion Health Fair will take place June 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2444 W. Orice Roth Road, Gonzales.

The fair will include free health screenings, dental health, eye health, skin and hair care, nutrition counseling, child safety, a space walk and face painting for the kids and much more.

St. James Lutheran Church to host VBS June 8-12

St James Lutheran Church, 1415 E Hwy 30, Gonzales, will host a Vacation Bible School titled “Crocodile Dock: Where Fearless Kids Shine God’s Light” June 8-12 from 6:15-8:34 p.m.

The week will include: Sing and Play Swamp Stomp, Bible Bayou, Crawfish Crafts and Mission Project, Dockside Drive-In and Snack Shack, and Firefly Finale.

Valarie Hodges Memorial Benefit set for June 14

A Valarie Hodges Memorial Benefit will take place Sunday, June 14 at Bayview, Hwy. 16, Port Vincent. Hodges, 10, drowned Sunday, May 10 on Mother’s Day. The benefit is being held to help defray the funeral cost.

The entertainment will include Clif Nickens, Floyd Brown, Kenny Fife, Trent Bourgeois and Fly By Nite. Bands will be updated through press notices.

The event will also include a auction, raffle, pastalaya, and jambalaya.
