Gonzales Garden Club Plant Sale set for Friday
The Gonzales Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale May 8 on the front lawn of the Gonzales City Hall May 8 between the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The public is invited to stop by and browse for unusual as well as common plants for gardens or hobbies at reasonable prices.
Chess Club offered
Anyone interested in joining the Ascension Council on Aging Chess Club can learn more at the Gonzales Senior Center at 526 S. Irma Blvd. Monday, May 11 at 9 a.m. For more information, call 621-5750.
Jambalaya Festival Art Show planned
The Festival Art Show is now accepting applications from artists wishing to participate in the annual fine art show and sale to be held in Gonzales City Hall (festival grounds) from May 21-24, sponsored by the Art Guild of Gonzales.
The guild will celebrates its 39th birthday this year with a special Artists Awards Reception Sunday, May 24 from 3-4 p.m. in the City Hall. Monetary and ribbon awards will be given for Best-of-Show, first, second, third, the Mayor Barney Arceneaux Award, the Sue Richburg Memorial, People’s Choice and honorable mention.

Bands needed for Jambalaya Festival
The Jambalaya Festival Association is looking for new and old bands wanting to play at the Jambalaya Festival. These bands will fill-in during the preliminary cooking contest and the judging. “This would be a great opportunity to get some experience and gets some advertisement for your band,” said a JFA spokesperson.

‘Special Tuesdays’ set for June
The Beau Porto Special Tuesdays recreation program will be held every Tuesday from June 2-21 from 2-6 p.m. at the Ascension Civic Center on Airline Highway in Sorrento. The program includes activities, food and music. Parents, friends, families and personal care attendants are welcome.
