Moore chosen May RRAA?Artist of the Month
Gaynell Bourgeois Moore has been chosen Artist of the Month for May at River Region Art Gallery in Gonzales.
Moore is a Louisiana Cajun artist, musician, and historian who was born on Christmas Day in a small cabin on Black Bayou in St. Amant. She has acquired her grandparents' old homestead on Black Bayou, where she now resides and has her studio.
Moore uses a variety of mediums from oils to acrylics and watercolors in her paintings. Even though she has received many awards for her outstanding work, she has had no formal education in art, and is fast to give credit for her many talents as “God Blessed.” At a recent Community Art show at the Tanger Outlet Mall, Moore’s work was voted a favorite by People’s Choice.
She is also recognized for her talent in music and has played and sang with several Cajun bands across south Louisiana throughout the years. She is also a published musician with 2 CDs of her own featuring Cajun songs. Her art and her music can be found at River Region Art Gallery, Houmas House Plantation gift shop, and in other local area shops.
Moore is a member of the Gonzales Art Guild and the River Region Art Association. She has been an active participant in Awesome Art in Autumn Gardens Festival and has entertained for several Gallery events. Her work will be displayed throughout the month of May at the River Region Art Gallery.
