'Rollin’ for Hope Poker Run' set for May 16

Southern Cruisers Riding Club, Chapter 14 will hold its annual “Rollin’ for Hope Poker Run” May 16 at the Ascension Civic Center, 9608 Airline Hwy., Sorrento.

All proceeds to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Registration is at 8 a.m. and first bike out is 9 a.m. The cost is $20 for rider, including a meal ticket, and $10 for passeneger.

The poker run will leave from and will return to the Ascension Civic Center.

The facility is air conditioned and there will be cash prizes, live music by the Chase Tyler Band, vendors, bike show and bike games, food, and door prizes.

The Southern Cruisers Riding Club (SCRC) organizes this charity endeavor to benefit St. Jude kids and families.

“The dedication is evidenced by the continued generosity of sponsors, the general public, and our community partners earning Baton Rouge recognition as SCRC’s highest contributing chapter to St. Jude for two consecutive years,” said an event spokesperson.

Southern Cruisers Riding Club is an international organization headquartered in Memphis, Tenn. 

“The riders are a family-oriented group of motorcycle enthusiasts who have supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as our national charity since the club’s inception,” added the  spokesperson.

Many of the riding club members are from Ascension Parish. The riders meet on Sundays at 9 a.m. at Frank’s Restaurant on Airline in Prairieville.
