Children’s Miracle Network kickoff Friday

A kickoff celebration to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network will be held at the Gonzales Wal-Mart April 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Kenny Cornett and his band Killin’ Time will perform 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be a spacewalk for children. A representative from Our Lady of the Lake will be there to sell Miracle Mansion tickets and CMN items. Larry Rousell and his team will be there to cook jambalaya and pastalaya plate lunches. Some products donated to CMN include Richard’s, Coca Cola, Nabisco and Frito lay products. All proceeds go to help local children at the OLOL Children’s Hospital.

CASA open house Saturday

Join the Court Appointed Special Advocates staff for their Open House Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Gonzales office located at 1026 E. Worthey Rd., Suite C.

Family benefit Saturday

A benefit is planned Saturday, April 25 for the late George Sham Pine family April 25 at the Ascension Civic Center, Sorrento, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Pine died March 17, 2009 from a brain stroke.

COA to hold first senior prom Sunday

The Ascension Council on Aging is hosting its first COA Senior Prom titled “Jewel of the Night” Sunday, April 26. The event, which is for seniors 60 and over, will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the Gonzales Recreation Center on Irma Blvd., Gonzales.

The Little Bayou Band will perform and a queen and king will be crowned. Food, beverage and door prizes will also be offered.
