‘Boogie Down for the Browns’ benefit May 8

Russell Graham/Special to The Citizen

As many are aware, the Brown family has been devastated this past year with the passing of Mischa Brown on Feb. 9 and Robin Brown’s death on Feb. 25.

These tragedies of losing a sister and father have left Billy Brown (a.k.a. Coach Tank) to shoulder the responsibilities and the bills of funeral costs, raising his sister’s two kids, and keeping his family together, all while working and attending school at night to earn his teaching certificate.

Coach Tank has always offered a helping hand without being asked, volunteered for our youth, or just provided a smiling face when one was needed. Now it is our turn as friends and as a community to return the favor.

Please join us May 8 at the KC Hall on Irma Blvd., Gonzales, from 5 p.m. until. The event will feature music by “Transit” and “Libations,” food, jambalaya dinners at $6 a plate, a live auction beginning at 7 p.m., a sweet booth, door prizes and a donation box at the door.

Donations can also be made at Keypoint Federal Credit Union in the name of the Brown Family Benefit.

For tickets and information, call Jason Berdigets at 229-5574, Tony Tureau at 571-3227 or Russell Graham at 772-9216.
