Senior Soc Hop Friday

The Parish of Ascension Recreation and Culture Department has put together a event with the monthly Senior Soc Hop. The next scheduled dance is Friday, March 27 from 1-3 pm at the St. Amant Park Recreation Center.

Residents 50 plus are welcome to attend. Soft drinks are complimentary and the Senior Throw Together Band will entertain seniors.

RRAA’s Children’s Creativity Day Saturday

River Region Art Association Children’s Creativity Day will be presented Saturday, March 28 under the trees at the River Region Art Gallery in Gonzales from 1-4 p.m. This family friendly event is free for all children.

There will be several art stations for creating and designing and door prizes to win.Children can try their hands with painting, beading, drawing, and collage. Volunteer artists will help the children create a masterpiece to take home.

The “March into Art” Youth Art Show will be on display inside the Gallery and the winners will be announced at 3 p.m. The Louisiana Art Spirit Award will be presented to the school with the best participation in “March into Art.”

Refreshments will be served following the awards ceremony.

There were 158 entries in the “March into Art” this year representing 29 schools. There were 12 Ascension Parish schools represented along with Baton Rouge, Zachary, St. James, Kenner, and several home schooled children.  Just come take a look at the March into Art show on Saturday, March 28 from 10-4 at River Region Art Gallery in Gonzales.

‘Flapjacks for Firefighters’ breakfast set

A ‘3-Alarm Fundraiser’ to benefit the 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Department will be held Saturday, March 28 at Pelican Point Club House. The public is invited to attend and feast on all-you-can-eat ‘Hot Cakes’ at the “Flapjacks for Firefighters” fundraiser from 7-11 a.m. Breakfast will also include sausage, fruit, juice, milk and coffee.

The event will include a “Hot to Trot Fun Run.” Run or walk in 1-mile and a 5K race will be held through Pelican Point. The 1-mile run/walk begins a 8 a.m. and 5K (run/walk) begins at 8:30 a.m. Both races start and finish at the Club House. Free T-shirts to the first 200 entrants and age group prizes.

Also included in the day is a “Red-Hot raffle” of gift baskets donated by area businesses, clubs and individuals.

Easter Egg Hunt Saturday

The KC Council 6389 and Ladies Auxiliary are hosting their Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. The event is for ages infant to 12. Participants will have a chance to find Easter eggs for prizes.

The event will be held at the Hall at 43472 Black Bayou Road.

New Hope Apostolic Church to host 5th Sunday Service

The Rev. Glenn E. Henderson Sr. and New Hope Apostolic Church family, 9542 E. Hwy. 936 St. Amant, invite the public to attend their 5th Sunday Service March 29 at 2 p.m.
