Applications being accepted for Gonzales Jambalaya Pageant

The Jambalaya Festival Association will once again host the annual Gonzales Jambalaya pageant at the Gonzales Civic Center.

This pageant is for children and young ladies and open to Ascension parish residents only. Winners in all divisions will have an opportunity to appear at the Jambalaya Festival and the annual Ascension Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. 

The Teen and Miss Queens will serve as official ambassadors for the Gonzales Jambalaya Festival Association.

The Children’s Pageant will be held Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 2p.m. Divisions include Boys 0-23 months and 2-4 years and Girls 0-23 months and 2-13 years. Registration will begin at noon.  Entry Fee is $75 and participants must pre-register by April 30. Sponsors are welcome. All participants will receive a trophy. Photos, no larger than an 8 by 10, will be accepted for judging the Photogenic Award.  Mark on the back of the photo your child’s name, age and division.

Pictures may be picked up once your child’s division is completed. Admission at the door will be $5 for adults and $3 for children. Everyone except contestants and visiting royalty will be required to pay an admission fee.

The Teen Miss and Miss Gonzales Pageant will be held on Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m.  Teens between the ages of 14-16 and Miss between the ages of 17-22 will be eligible to compete for the titles of Teen Miss and Miss Gonzales Jambalaya. Some awards included are a rhinestone crown, banner, official Gonzales Jambalaya jewelry. Both queens will serve as official hostesses for the Jambalaya Festival held during Memorial Day Weekend.  Entry fee for the pageant will be $125.

Sponsors are welcome.  One photo, no larger than 8 by 10, will be needed for photogenic judging and must be turned in with application.  Make certain the participant’s name, age, and division are clearly marked on the back of photo. Deadline for applications will be May 30, no exceptions.

Applications may be picked up at Beth’s, Snug as a Bug, Salon Bello, Capelli’s Hair Salon, Miss Priss, and The Ascension Chamber of Commerce.
