Pine Needle Basket Class set for Plaquemine Lock

PLAQUEMINE – Learn how to make a pine needle basket this Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site in Plaquemine.     

Participants will learn the basic techniques of making a pine needle basket from Interpretive Ranger Kim Hollier from the Louisiana State Arboretum. 

The River Road Fiber Guild is sponsoring the class and is excited about having Hollier coming down from Ville Platte to instruct.

Plaquemine Lock SHS is on the National Historic Register and celebrates its’ 100th Anniversary of its’ opening April 9, 1909. 

The site is located in historic downtown Plaquemine, 13 miles south of Baton Rouge and 19 miles north of Donaldsonville.
