Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated - Nu Gamma Omega Chapter hosts Rites of Passage Ceremony
Adorned in beautiful African attire, sixteen high school seniors were introduced to society by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Nu Gamma Omega Chapter at its Rites of Passage Ceremony held on August 17th at The Lyceum.
The theme was Gems in the Making: Fine, Rare and Admirable. Linda Early Brown, President of the Chapter welcomed the guest to the auspicious occasion and Linda Joseph, sorority member served as the Mistress of Ceremony. Featured speakers for the evening were inspirational speaker Rev. Demetria Jones Smith, sorority member and Minister of Christian Education and Youth at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church; and community speaker Ronnie Edwards, Baton Rouge Metro Councilwoman District 5. Joycelyn Green and Errin Gaines served as Chairman and Co-Chairman respectively for the Debutante program.

Fluker, daughter of Thomas Fluker III,; Tayler Jalise Fort, daughter of Cherita and Richard C. Fort Jr; Elise Gabrielle Gipson, daughter of Michele Boyle Gipson of Baton Rouge and Kelvin Gipson of New Orleans; J'Lynzia Malaya Glover, daughter of Debbie and Joseph M. Glover Sr.; Morghan S. Hudson, daughter of Arthur and Nicole Hudson; Kourtney Tre'nelle Jackson, daughter of Rebecca Jackson of Greenwell Springs and Nathaniel Selders Jr. of Clinton; Ty'Keria L. Jackson daughter of Sharonda Jackson of Baton Rouge and Michael Watson Jr. of Sicily Island; Johnna Alise Johnson, daughter of Alethea and Johnny L. Johnson Jr. both of Port Allen; Maya Alexis Kleinpeter, daughter of Mia and Milton H. Kleinpeter, Jr both of Prairieville; Biaunka Nichole Robinson, daughter of Trashica R. Robinson of Tangipahoa; Alexis Nichole Simoneaux, daugther of Shalonda and Mark Simoneaux both of Port Allen; Lezlie Denise Slaughter, daughter of Dr. Ralph and Denise Slaughter; and Tailyn Briere Smith daughter of Tia and Van Chew and Sherman Brazil.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated had its humble beginnings as the vision of nine college students on the campus of Howard University in 1908. Since then, the sorority has flourished into a globally-impactful organization of over 265,000 college-trained members, bound by the bonds of sisterhood and empowered by a commitment to servant-leadership that is both domestic and international in its scope. Nu Gamma Omega Chapter is the 45th alumnae Chapter in the Baton Rouge area led by Linda Early Brown.
