Project Kid Kove would like to sincerely thank the Central Middle School Cheerleaders who recently made a donation to the park. These cheerleaders support Central Middle athletic teams throughout the school year as well as represent the school in any type of event happening around the school. Holding a fundraiser to purchase uniforms, pom-poms and fund summer camp brought them to their goal. Therefore when spirit ribbons were sold for each football game, they decided they did not need any of the profit for themselves. When questioned by their sponsors, Natali Aucoin & Tristan Cunningham about giving the money back to the community, the girls were full of ideas. They decided they wanted to help an organization in their own community, where they could see the benefit first hand. As they have their own class of special needs children at Central, they thought what an awesome place for them to be able to go and have fun, just for them. Very excited to see this park for the special needs children and so excited to help out by sending $360 from the CMS cheerleaders, Project Kidz Kove was contacted!

“We could not have raised the money for Kidz Kove Discovery Park without so much support from the community. These young ladies stepped up and did their part,” states Audrey Boudreaux, Project Kidz Kove Board Member. “We are committed to making this park a reality, helping brighten the life of a child who would otherwise not have the chance of play. We are humbled by these young students, who wanted to help make that happen.”

Established in 2010, Project Kidz Kove is a not-for-profit organization in Ascension Parish, whose purpose is to raise funds to construct a playground for children of all abilities. The park will focus on additional equipment for children with physical or sensory developmental challenges with specialized equipment to facilitate their play experiences. Acreage for Kidz Kove Discovery Park was dedicated by the City of Gonzales, and once completed will be maintained by the City’s department of recreation.
