Arceneaux, James T.

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Gonzales, he passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013. He was 85, a retired salesman and a veteran of the United States Navy. Visitation was held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Saturday, July 27. The funeral service followed.

Beam, Cheryl Romero

She was a resident of Prairieville and passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. She was 59 and was born on Dec. 29, 1953 in Bossier City. She served as a legal secretary for many years, until cancer forced her retirement. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Bercegeay, Gary Joseph

A lifelong resident of Gonzales, he passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the age of 66. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1965. He worked for Shell Chemical in Geismar for 39 years. He was an usher at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales and a treasurer with the Knights of Columbus. Visitation was at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, Sunday, July 28. Visitation resumed Monday, July 29 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church until a Mass of Christian Burial.

Diez, Joyce Himel

She was 77 and died on Monday, July 22, 2013. She was a graduate of Donaldsonville High School. She was part of Catholic Daughters Society and Ladies Altar Society at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing charity work for numerous associations. She also volunteered for Louisiana Special Olympics. Entombment in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic

Dixon, Margaret Lorraine Butler

On Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the age of 82 she passed away at the Gonzales Healthcare Center in Gonzales. She was a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Galvez area of Prairieville. She was a 1948 graduate of Istroma High School in Baton Rouge. She worked for many years in Customer Service/Sales. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and in later years Broussard Grove Baptist Church. Burial in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 933, Prairieville.

Gomez Sr., Herbert Joseph

A native of a Donaldsonville and a resident of Greenwell Springs, he passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the age of 95. He was a US Army WWII veteran- construction of the Alaskan Highway, a member of the Red Ball Express 3rd phase at Omaha Beach, and a D-Day veteran. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Exxon Piney Woods Annuitant Club where he was retired as a Riverboat Engineer. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

 Hebert, Marie Bercegeay

She was 72 and passed away at The Carpenter House on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was a native of Gonzales and a resident of St. Amant. Memorial services were held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, July 27.

Johnson, Lawton Bennett

A resident of Gonzales, he passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was 84, a retired voting machine mechanic with the state of Louisiana, and a veteran of the US Air Force. Burial in Cornerview Cemetery in Gonzales.

Martinez, Mayola Gautreau “Maw Maw May”

She was born on Jan. 11, 1921 and passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish until the last few years living in Port Allen. Interment in Hope Haven Mausoleum on Highway 30.

Omdal, Peder Arden

A resident of Gonzales and native of Bow, Washington, he passed away at 2:11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Landmark of Baton Rouge. He was 89. He retired from Texaco Refinery and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, served in the Pacific Theatre and served on the U.S.S. Mississippi. Burial in Hope Haven Garden of Memory.

Pierson Jr., Rex E.

A resident of St. Amant and retired professional engineer, he passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013. He was 83 and a native of French Camp, Calif. He studied many years in the engineering field and received a BS in Aeronautical Engineering, along with many other advanced engineering degrees. Burial in New River Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Amant. .
