The only community fireworks show in Ascension Parish will once again light up the sky be on Wednesday, July 3. Crescent Park is across from the Donaldsonville Riverfront viewing the Mississippi River. This great American tradition is opportunity to show our patriotic pride and join as a community to celebrate what is great about small town America. The City of Donaldsonville, CF Industries, Capital One and Mainstreet Donaldsonville & Donaldsonville DDD join together to sponsor this community event.

Two great bands starting at 5:30 p.m. will be playing to the estimated 2,000 people who join annually for this American Tradition. Ever popular, Avenue Cruisers, start at 5:30 p.m. Michael Foster Project plays before the fireworks and after party.

Fireworks at 9:10 p.m.

Missy Jandura, Executive Director of Mainstreet Donaldsonville "We encourage families to shop for groceries and frequent local businesses in preparation for this great event. The mission of the Downtown Development District is to drive the local economy. Donaldsonville Mainstreet works hard to create a vibrant downtown that is the focal point for arts and culture, events, shopping, dining, and services for the entire River Parishes area and attracts a rich variety of age groups, diverse ethnic and cultural representatives and accommodates people of all income and social levels. We welcome everyone to see what Donaldsonville has to offer in business and community living."

Lifeshare Blood mobile will be open for local citizens who would like to give blood. As was seen with the tragic explosions here in Ascension Parish, blood bank levels were critically low. "As a community," Jandura said, "we are calling upon our citizens and visitors to help replenish the supply, as it is critically low."

Ascension Parish Tourism, Crazy Bout History and Alvin Batiste will be on hand to represent some of the best in the Donaldsonville Cultural District.

Mainstreet Louisiana's goal is to promote the unique character of historic downtown district with the goal of transforming it into the cultural, social, professional and retail center of the city… in essence, the hub of the community life. By bringing neighbors and visitors to Donaldsonville, the DDD & City of Donaldsonville seek to highlight what a great place Donaldsonville is to live, work and stay.

No coolers or tents are allowed at the event. Bring your lawn chairs.
