Hannah Godchaux, right, and her best friend Julia Borderlon, found out during Dutchtown High School Cheer Camp that a cheerleader at Dutchtown Middle had been diagnosed with leukemia the week prior. All they knew was that her name was “Breanna”. That day they got home from camp about 1 p.m. and immediately started to think of what they could do for her. All on their own, they made flyers and went door to door in Old Mill and Plantation Creek subdivisions collecting money for her. By 5 p.m. they had collected $157. Hannah's little sister, Reese Godchaux, had leukemia and is 4 years into remission. “She understands just how important it is to give back to others after so many in this community have given to our family,” said her mother, Brandi Godchaux. “I’m very proud of them both for taking the initiative and giving back to someone they have never even met.”
