State Rep. Johnny Berthelot, R-District 88, said representatives from the Jambalaya Festival Association visited the La. House of Representatives at the Capitol, May 9, and treated everyone to a "wonderful" lunch of Jambalaya, white beans and salad. More than 350 plates were served.

"It was a great way to promote Gonzales and Ascension Parish as the Jambalaya Capitol of the World," said Jody Tyson, legislative assistant to Rep. Berthelot.

Tyson said Danny Robert and his assistant Kurt Waguespack the reigning 2012-2013 World Champion Jambalaya Cooks received a standing ovation for their jambalaya, which was served by Meredith Conger, the 2012-2013 Jambalaya Queen, and Rep. Berthelot's "lovely wife Paula."

"All guests were introduced to the House of Representatives," she said. "A good meal was enjoyed by all."
