Countdown to Gumbo in St. James

Opening on the first Friday in Lent, Feb. 15, the St. James Episcopal Church Women — and guys, and friends — invite the public to Bishops Hall, at the corner of Florida and N. Fourth Street for Gumbo 2013.
As they've done each Lent for over 60 years, volunteers at St. James will serve fabulous Gumbo lunches of either shrimp, or chicken and sausage gumbo, along with Sensation Salad, bread and a tasty dessert, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each Friday. Dine-in customers can enjoy water, tea or coffee with their meal.
Drive-thru pickup of boxed lunches is also available. Or, order some a la carte items for heat-and-eat meals at home or the office: pints and quarts of gumbo, rice, cole slaw, dessert servings and bread by the loaf are offered. Just phone in your pick-up order to 225-387-5141 on Friday mornings between 8 and 10, and it can be delivered right to your car on our Fourth Street pick-up lane!
St. James' Friday Lenten Gumbo lunches are the sole fundraiser for the Episcopal Church Women's outreach projects. The St. James ECW has offered assistance to numerous local groups and agencies, as well as making significant contributions to hurricane relief as well as foreign mission work involving parishioners and of local interest.
