Ronnie Braud (Braud's Trucking) presented Audrey Boudreaux, Project Kidz Kove (PKK) Board member, with a check from Kajun Wood.

The project was coordinated by Braud, Ronnie Valley, Chad Long and Don Robert, with a Track hoe furnished by Robert Bros. Farm, to remove unsafe trees on Kidz Kove Discovery Park's future site.

Instead of burning the trees, Long hauled some of them to Hammond where they were sold to make pallets or mats. He returned a check for almost $1,600 for Project Kidz Kove.

Boudreaux said big tree stumps were hauled to the dump through the efforts of The City of Gonzales.

"We are sincerely grateful to these great volunteers who gave of themselves, their equipment and especially their time to support Project Kidz Kove in our efforts to brighten the lives of these children who would otherwise not have a playground geared to their special needs," she said. "We are committed to making this park a reality soon, and with volunteers and wonderful ideas like this one, we will!"

Established in 2010, Project Kidz Kove is a not-for-profit organization in Ascension Parish, whose purpose is to raise funds to construct a playground for children of all abilities. The park will focus on additional equipment for children with physical or sensory developmental challenges with specialized equipment to facilitate their play experiences. Acreage for Kidz Kove Discovery Park was dedicated by the City of Gonzales, and once completed will be maintained by the City's department of recreation.
