Ascension children visit Santa at St. Amant Fire Dept.

Chief Officer James E. LeBlanc Special to The Citizen

It was so rewarding to see more than 285 children visit the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department this past week to give their wishes to Santa Claus. One by one, as those children entered the fire station, it was a feeling that you can never describe.

To know that this small gathering at a local fire station, could bring so much happiness to so many young children of our area, is the best Christmas present anyone could ever asked for. Pictures were taken with Santa Claus and given to the families. Special thanks to Julie Morgan for performing this task for free to the public.

Special thanks to the St. Amant Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary who again were the organizers of the annual event at the fire station. Over 320 lbs. of food was donated for our local church pantries. Also toys were donated for needy children in our area.

This is the 14th year in a row that the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department has participated in the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Christmas Crusade for children.
