Ascension Parish Council on Aging announces a new, free to the public "Ask the Doctor" program.

"Senior citizens use more healthcare than others," said a COA spokesperson. "They have questions and want to learn about new treatment methods and medicines, but doctors are busy and in the treatment room. Seniors sometimes forget to make certain all their questions answered."

In partnership with St. Elizabeth's Physicians, the Louisiana Dental Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital, the Ascension Parish Council on Aging has designed a program entitled "Ask the Doctor." Local specialist doctors, dentists and health professionals will first answer questions from local senior citizens in ACOA's monthly Newsletter. Then on the second Wednesday of each month, the doctor who wrote the column will give a presentation at the Gonzales Senior Center (located at 526 South Irma, next to the library in Gonzales,) explaining in layman's language how seniors can maximize their own medical treatments using new technologies and medicines. Following the presentation there will be a question and answer session.

The first presentation will be at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Call (225) 621-5750 with any questions. Light refreshments will be served.
