Scarecrows Swamp Gonzales Contest

The River Region Art Association is now accepting business sponsors for the Scarecrows Swamp Gonzales Contest. Scarecrows are to be life-size and on exhibit at the business site Sept. 30 – Oct. 31. Cash prizes and specially hand crafted trophies are awarded for creativity and quality of construction. Contest fee is $50.

Winners of the Scarecrows Swamp Gonzales Contest will be announced at the opening ceremonies of the Awesome Art on the Bayou Festival on Oct. 13. The festival will be held Oct. 13 and 14, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Vendors wanted

The River Region Art Association is now accepting vendor applications to the Awesome Arts on the Bayou Festival 2012. Vendor categories are Arts & Crafts, Literary, Non-Profits, and Food. Deadline for applications is Sept. 15. Fee is $100 for a 10'x10' vendor space and a discount is given for current RRAA members and non-profit organizations. Quilt drawing for Project Kids Kove

A quilt drawing is being held with proceeds going to support Project Kids Kove. The Log Cabin quilt is 84" x 102," for king or queen. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Handcrafted quilt to be raffled

St. Theresa School and St. John Primary School are raffling a one-of-a-kind handcrafted quilt at the annual fair scheduled for Oct. 5-7. The purple and gold quilt is queen size and is in an exploding pineapple pattern.

These partner church parishes will have the quilt on display and sell tickets before and after each Mass on the following weekends: Holy Rosary on Sept. 8 and 9; St. Joseph on Sept. 15 and 16; St. John on Sept. 22 and 23; and, St. Theresa on Sept. 29 and 30.

Additionally, the quilt will be on display and tickets can be purchased during the weekend of the school fair. The winning ticket will be pulled on Oct. 7.

All raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 chances for $5.

Cajun Country Quilt Guild

Tuesday and Sunday Bingo

St. Amant Knights of Columbus bingo, doors open at 6 p.m. Tuesdays, the doors open at 6 p.m., bingo begins at 7:30. Sundays, doors open at 4 p.m., bingo begins at 5 p.m. No one under the age of 18 is allowed. Located at 43472 Black Bayou Rd.

Wednesday Bingo

The American Legion Post 81, 421 E. City, Gonzales, holds bingo every Wednesday night. Everyone is welcome. Children are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 7:30 p.m.

Weekend Bingo

VFW Post 3693, bingo Friday and Saturday nights. Children six years and older are welcome, must buy at least a $5 book. Doors open at 6 p.m., bingo starts at 7:30 p.m.
