Gov. Bobby Jindal gave Louisiana Veteran's Honor Medals to local veterans Friday during a ceremony at the Southeast Louisiana War Vets Home in Reserve.

Edward Arceneaux, formerly of Gonzales, and Lionel "Bully" Myers, originally from Galvez, were among the residents who received medals.

The medal is gold-plated and comes with a blue ribbon. One side shows the state of Louisiana with “United States” embossed above and “Armed Forces” below. The other side bears the words, “Louisiana appreciates your service to our country.”

Also receiving the medal Friday during a ceremony at the War Vets Home was Lionel “Bully” Myers, originally from Galvez, but now a resident at the home.
