The annual Three Sisters Mardi Gras parade rolled through the streets of Donaldsonville Tuesday.

Residents and visitors of Donaldsonville gathered for the Three Sisters parade at 2 p.m. on Mardi Gras.

Beautiful weather brought many out for the festivities. Participants were dressed in purple, gold and green and almost everyone sported colorful beads around their necks.

Around 15 floats gathered at Williams Southall Funeral Home and made their way down St. Patrick St., turned on Division St. and saved Railroad Ave. for their last stop. Every float had their own Mardi Gras music to dance to, and children yelled from the streets, “Hey, throw me something!”

“It gives you something to look forward to,” said resident Tammy Cooper. “I have enjoyed myself and the day is not over.”

The aroma from several blocks of families boiling crawfish and barbequing and indulging in fruity beverages, made it all the more fun.

“I love this time of year, it is so fun to come out here and enjoy the festivities,” said Ashley Cayette, an 11th grade student at Donaldsonville High School.
