Cox Communications launches MyPrimetime in Baton Rouge area

Staff reports

BATON ROUGE – Cox announced its digital cable customers in the Baton Rouge area will have On DEMAND access to programs from ABC, NBC, Cartoon Network, FX, TBS and TNT with the addition of MyPrimetime.

Episodes of primetime series will be available free of charge to Cox Digital Cable customers in the MyPrimetime section of On DEMAND starting the day after they air on the network. In addition, Cox has secured an agreement with USA to air its content when available and is seeking agreements with other broadcast and cable networks for content.

With MyPrimetime, Cox Digital Cable customers will have On DEMAND access to new episodes of ABC hits including Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Good Morning America, Lost and Ugly Betty; NBC favorites including Heroes, Kath & Kim, Life and Lipstick Jungle; FX’s critically-acclaimed Damages and Nip Tuck; TBS’s 10 Items or Less and Meet the Browns; and TNT’s new hit Leverage. Episodes will be available On DEMAND by 10 a.m. the day after the program’s broadcast premier and will be available for up to 28 days. Additional shows are expected to become available at the discretion of the networks.

“Our digital cable customers’ On DEMAND library keeps getting better and better,” said Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and region manager for Cox. “With the addition of this popular content, not only can our customers access movies and cable programming favorites any time they choose, they can now watch popular broadcast and cable hits at anytime.”

Cox commissioned research after the initial launch of MyPrimetime in 2007 and found that 80 percent of users are satisfied with the service and plan to use it again. The most common reasons for viewing MyPrimetime content were to catch up on a missed episode - as an alternative to setting their DVR - and to sample shows they haven’t seen before, especially newer shows. One in four respondents stated that if the shows had not been available On DEMAND, they would not have been able to watch them at all.

With On DEMAND, Cox Digital Cable customers have access to more than 3,000 hours of movies and shows, including high-definition content and exclusive programming, all via the digital receiver. The majority of On DEMAND programming is free and all available with the touch of a button. Customers can watch what they want, when they want by tuning to the On DEMAND library on channel one.
