Strain to Lead NASDA Task Force Group

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) selected Louisiana Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., to lead a task force focused on creating proactive messaging for stakeholders.
At a meeting with NASDA last week, Strain suggested NASDA members become more effective in communicating the importance of the nation's agricultural industry by speaking with one voice instead of individual voices. That messaging can come in many forms including social media. Agriculture industries and agribusinesses, commodity and trade organizations, and universities and learning institutions are the targeted audiences.
Strain said, "The goal is to show the benefits agriculture brings to the country. For example, the agricultural industry provides people with the safest and highest quality food and fiber supply. This messaging model also supports the One Health concept which incorporates principles of the environment, plants and animals."
