River Community Church’s Vacation Bible School
River Community Church is inviting all area children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade to participate in a “Vacation Bible School” that will take them back in time to a marketplace in 29 A.D. During the week of June 8 to 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, children will be part of a tribe in Judea and experience first-hand stories from the Bible.
Marketplace VBS is an invitation to become part of a community, to participate in a adventure, to experience opportunities to act in a loving and caring way, to learn about Joseph and Jesus.
The deadline for registering is Sunday, May 31; space is limited. Library Closings
The Gonzales location only of the Ascension Parish Library will be closed Saturday, May 23 and Sunday May 24. Regular library hours apply in the Donaldsonville, Galvez, and Dutchtown locations.
The Ascension Parish Library will be closed Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day.
Spartanettes to host summer dance camp
East Ascension high school Spartanettes will host a summer dance camp for kids 3 years and up from June 15-19.
The camp will be fun filled with games, dancing, themed days, snacks and a “show-off” night.
Cost of $55 each includes registration, snacks, drinks, and T-shirt. All classes are taught by the members of the East Ascension Spartanettes.
The camp will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 noon at the East Ascension Gym.

Why let the kids have all the fun? Summer reading is not just for kids; get the whole family involved. Join the adult summer reading program at the Ascension Parish Library…Booklover’s Summer.
From May 21 through July 31, readers will receive an Ascension Parish Library Tote Bag, while supplies last, with the submittal of their first entry form for reading or listening to three books. Readers will also be eligible to win the Birding by the Book Grand Prize featuring a beautiful John James Audubon Bird and Botanical Art Print custom framed by Marchand’s Interior and Hardware of Gonzales. Each piece of art is colorful, artful, and entertaining and comes ready to hang. The prize also includes a copy of National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds: Eastern Region; a pair of Bushnell Falcon Series binoculars with case for bird watching; and other birding accessories. One Birding by the Book Grand Prize will be awarded at each library location on August 3, and only one prize per person.

Gatorettes to host summer dance camp
St. Amant High School Gatorettes will host a summer dance camp for kids 3 years and up from June 1-5.
The camp will be fun filled with games, dancing, themed days, snacks and a “show-off” night.
Cost of $55 each includes registration, snacks, drinks, T-shirt and photo. All classes are taught by the members of the National Award Winning Gatorettes.
Participants will be invited to perform at a St. Amant High School home football game.
The camp will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 noon at the St. Amant High School Gold Dome.

Ascension Fair Association to host a FORE-the-Kids Golfing on the Greens
Ascension Fair Association will host a FORE-the-Kids Golfing on the Greens Saturday, May 30 at Pelican Point Golf & Country Club, 6300 Championship Court, Gonzales, from 8:30-11:30 a.m.. Participants must be boys and girls 5 years and older. Parent or guardian must be present.

Tuesday and Sunday Bingo
The St. Amant Knights of Columbus holds bingo two nights a week. On Tuesday, the doors open at 6 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30. On Sunday afternoon the doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo begins at 5 p.m. No one under the age of 18 is allowed.
Everyone is invited to come. On the last Tuesday of each month free jambalaya is served to the players. The St. Amant Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 43472 Black Bayou Road.
