Jambalaya Festival Pageant

The Jambalaya Festival Pageant will be held on the first weekend in May. The children's divisions will be held on Sunday, May 3 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Gonzales Civic Center. Ascension Parish boys ages 0-4 are invited to compete for King titles and girls ages 0-13 are invited to compete for Queen titles. The Teen and Miss Pageant will be held on Saturday May 2. Revelation Vintage Car & Truck Show Saturday

Revelation Vintage Car and Truck Show presented by Don’s Wholesale Automotive to benefit Trinity Outdoors Disabled Adventures, LLC (a Christian based 501c3 nonprofit group) is set for Saturday, April 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cabela’s in Gonzales.

There will be awards for Top 25 in the categories of: Best in Show, Car, Truck, Rat Rod, and Best Overall.

There is a $30 entry feed and it includes free jambalaya and drink. There will be live music, a jambalaya and pastalaya cook off, and lots of door prizes.

Rev. Jackson to celebrate anniversary

Rev. Levan Jackson Sr., right, pastor of the Paul Baptist Church of Livingston, will celebrate his 23rd year in pastoral ministry. Officers and members of the church, along with their sister church, Shilon Missionary Baptist Church, invite to public to the celebration Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at 19509 Vicknair Rd., Head of Island. Guest speaker will be Rev. Roy Burnes of the Trinity Fellowship Baptist Church of Baton Rouge.

NAACP meeting Monday

The Ascension Parish Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has scheduled its monthly meeting for Monday, April 13, at 6 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church located at 10438 Boudreaux Road, Gonzales. NAACP Members and members of the general public are invited to attend this meeting. Asbury Independent Methodist Church Spring Revival

Asbury Independent Methodist Church, 31755 Laurel Ridge Road, White Castle, pastored by Rev. Andrew Richardson will be holding “Our Spring Revival”, Wednesday, April 15 through Friday, April 17, 2015 at 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Marcus Braggs, pastor of St. John Baptist Church of Plaquemine, to be the evangelist. Everyone is invited.

Tuesday and Sunday Bingo

The St. Amant Knights of Columbus holds bingo two nights a week. On Tuesday, the doors open at 6 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30. On Sunday afternoon the doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo begins at 5 p.m. No one under the age of 18 is allowed.

Everyone is invited to come. On the last Tuesday of each month free jambalaya is served to the players. The St. Amant Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 43472 Black Bayou Road. 

World Link of Churches & Ministries ‘ABLAZE in the SPIRIT’ coming

World Link of Churches & Ministries presents “ABLAZE in the SPIRIT” April 14-17, from noon - 7 p.m. This is an annual, free, public event hosted by Intl. Prelate, Dr. Lloyd Benson, Sr., of World Link of Churches & Ministries.

WLCM serves as a support system to churches and its members. The organization reaches out to residents, businesses, schools and public officials in various regions.

The event will feature gospel singing, ministry dance, vending booths, food and more.

Addiction Recovery Support Group

An addiction recovery support group meets at 7 p.m. every Friday at Christ Healing Community, 404 West Pine St., Gonzales (behind Dominos on Airline.) Coed Group. Faith based. Child-care provided. For more information, call 810-8695.

Wednesday Bingo

The American Legion Post 81, 421 E. City, Gonzales, holds bingo every Wednesday night. Everyone is welcome. Children are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 7:30 p.m.

Weekend Bingo

VFW Post 3693, bingo Friday and Saturday nights. Children six years and older are welcome, must buy at least a $5 book. Doors open at 6 p.m., bingo starts at 7:30 p.m., located at 42430 Church Point Rd., Gonzales.

The Rock Church Food Pantry

The Rock Church Food Pantry opens at 1 pm. every third Tuesday of the calendar month. Participants will gather at at the church’s Western Town and watch a 20 minute Gospel video prior to receiving a ticket to redeem for one bag of groceries per household. One must provide a drivers license or La photo ID.
