America celebrates its 238th birthday with an all-star salute from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. A Capitol Fourth will air on Louisiana Public Broadcasting on Friday, July 4 at 7PM with an encore showing at 9PM. Two-time Emmy Award-winning television personality Tom Bergeron (“Dancing With the Stars”) will host the event which will feature performances by Frankie Valli, Patti LaBelle, Jordin Sparks, Michael McDonald, Sara Evans, Kendall Schmidt and Kelli O’Hara. They will be backed by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly.

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of our national anthem, composer John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws) will debut a special arrangement for orchestra and chorus of the “Star Spangled Banner” with the National Symphony Orchestra, The Joint Armed Forces Chorus, the Choral Arts Society of Washington and the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets. Of course, the finale will be a spectacular fireworks display coordinated with Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.”
