Azalea Estates to host Garage Sale

Azalea Estates will host a Garage Sale on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 til 5. There will also be a fundraiser and selling jambalaya, white beans, pound cake and bread for $6 a plate. The garage sale is at Azalea Estates, 2305 S. Purpera, Gonzales. Rain or shine. No early birds please.

VFW/Auxiliary 3693 Birthday/Bingo Party

The monthly VFW/Auxiliary 3693 Birthday/Bingo Party for seniors and people with disablities will not be held Monday, Nov. 11 as it is Veterans Day.

It will be held Monday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. at the VFW hall on Church Point Road in Gonzales.

Diabetes Awareness program

The Community Sisterhood ,through a partnership with St. Elizabeth Hospital Physicians Diabetes Center, will host their annual Diabetes Awareness program. This year’s program will feature the newly revised diabetes management recommendations by the American Diabetes Association.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Geismar Community Center, 12060 Highway 73, Geismar.

High Heels for High Hopes

The Gonzales Rotary Club invites the public to come enjoy a fabulous evening at the High Heels for High Hopes March of Dimes Ladies Gala at the Clarion Inn located at 1500 West Highway 30, Gonzales, on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. while supporting a cause.

There will be a catered dinner, wine and cheese reception, celebrity waiters, style show, silent auction, champagne bar, 50/50 drawing, door prizes and more.

Destiny’s Woman Ministry’s 1st Anniversary Celebration

Destiny’s Woman Ministry will hold a meeting on Friday, Nov. 1 in honor of their one year anniversary of when the ministry began. An evening is being set to celebrate their milestone. Light refreshments will be served, beginning at 7 p.m., and the service with follow at 7:15 p.m. Child care will be available if needed. Women and teenage girls of any denomination are welcome. The Rock Church Making Room

Gautreau-Williams Post 81 is proud to announce a special ceremony for naming the cast wing dining hall in honor two sons of Ascension Parish who gave their lives in service to America.

Marine Crops Lance Corporeal Eddie L. Landry of Dutchtown assigned to H Co., 2Nd Bn, 4th Marines, 3Rd Marine Div. lll MAF, Awarded the Silver Star as a result of Operation Starlite, Van Tuong Peninsula, Viet Nam.

Army Specialist Johnathon B. Chrism, Gonzales, assigned to the 2Nd, Vn. 337th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Karbala, Iraq.

The ceremony will take place at the Legion Home, 421 East City Park, Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. The Post will be open at 1 p.m. All members, veterans and interested citizens are invited through this medium to attend.

Sunshine Festival this week

The annual Sunshine Festival will take place Oct. 31 until Nov. 3 at the fairgrounds in Donaldsonville.

The Sunshine Festival brings crowds of people every year and this year will be no exception. Bring the entire family for good times.

Tuesday and Sunday Bingo

The St. Amant Knights of Columbus holds bingo two nights a week. On Tuesday, the doors open at 6 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30. On Sunday afternoon the doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo begins at 5 p.m. No one under the age of 18 is allowed.
