Local pastor's vision becomes 'Cowboy CHRISTmas' with 2nd Annual Cowboy CHRISTmas slated

TONY ALISE Special to The Citizen
The 2nd Annual Cowboy CHRISTmas is set for Dec. 6-8. Tour guides take you through the carpenter’s shop, bakery, general store, and Heavenly Hotel; then it’s off on a hayride to visit the blacksmith, petting zoo and live nativity scene. The last stop is sitting around the campfire listening to cowboys tell stories.

Not long after the rock church started Pastor Blake Melancon and told his members that, "One day we will have a western town. It will be a place children can come and learn more about Jesus at Bible studies and attend children's church on Sundays."

The church at the time held services in the 900 sq. ft. building. The church continued to grow as God blessed with the opportunity to purchase the land on church point Road where the church is now located.

As plans are being made for the construction of "Champions Creek" The Rock Church's western town, Pastor Blake had a vision of sharing this town with the community. Thus, "Cowboy Christmas" was born. This is a three night event, when families can visit "Champions Creek" and step back in time to the 1800s.

"Last year was just incredible! We had a great turn out for our first year. This is a great event that families can share together as they step back in time and have a fun filled evening together." Pastor Blake explained.

"Looking for a family night out, join us for "Cowboy Christmas" 2012, Dec. 6-8."

The first tour starts at 6 p.m. and the last tour is at 8 p.m.
