Staff reports

LeBlanc’s Food Stores, which has three locations in Ascension Parish, will open a new store in Hammond next month.

The independent grocer will expand to Hammond June 30 with a new store at 2704 W. Thomas, near West Church Street.

The supermarket will feature  floral, liquor, bakery and deli departments, and will serve fresh sushi daily.

Vincent Tallo, a 30-year supermarket industry veteran, has been named manager of the new store.

LeBlanc’s has locations in Gonzales, Prairieville, Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, Walker, Zachary and Plattenville.

The store dates back to 1960 when it was established by L.C. LeBlanc. Two of his grandsons, Marcy and Randy LeBlanc, have continued the family business as owners and operators of the local stores.
