In the heart of the city of Gonzales, on the banks of Bayou Francois, there is a “Fabulous Festival” that is coming this way named — “AWESOME ART ON THE BAYOU”. On Saturday and Sunday - October the 11th and 12th from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, the gates will be opened and people can freely park, and freely enter, and stroll among the tents lining the bayou. They will find arts and crafts of all kind. Grown-ups, and young people alike, will enjoy festival events, displays, and activities that are just for them. Children can participate in an art class, get their face painted, or compete in a Turtle Race.

Art lovers will want to make an indoor visit to the Awesome Art Exhibit filled with paintings, three dimensional art, and photography. There they may even see their own creative work. Intake for art work, from children, age 6 years, to adults (who don’t have to give their ages), will be on October 8th, on the porch of the Gonzales City Hall, at 120 S. Irma Blvd. In the exhibit, art work will be viewed by others, judged by professionals, and awarded prizes. Some art may also be for sale at the end of the show.

While strolling down the bayou visitors can listen to live music, or stop to enjoy guest performers like Kitchen Sessions of Baton Rouge and Jemini Venture Bands, or hear Gaynell More with her guitar and her Louisiana songs, & country/ western music. Great sounds will come from the Sweet Adelines and from up and coming very talented young singers -- Youth Entertainers and Center Stage Performing Arts.

The eats will be as “awesome” as the art and entertainment. There will be – Funnel Cakes, Lemonade, Chicken Fingers & Potato Swirls provided by The Funnel factory, Sausage Po Boys & Chips by Boy Scout Troop 769, Gelato Italian Ice-cream from City Gelato, Lemonade & Fresh Fruit Shakeups, Ice Cream and Cookies from The Big Lemon, and Orleans Pasta, Chicken Wings, Fries, Red Beans, and PoBoys by Orleans Catering.

The River Region Art Association invites everyone to come, see, hear, eat, shop, and thoroughly enjoy the Awesome Art Festival.
