Winning artworks were recognized Sunday, August 24, during River Community Church’s 3rd Annual Children’s Community Art Show. Twenty-one artworks from area artists aged 5 to 13 were entered in the show. The show was judged by Wendy Hazy, an artist and art teacher in Prairieville. Jeanie Liehe was the show coordinator.

Those receiving ribbons were:

Art, ages 5 – 9 group:

1st: “Professor Fox” by Sara Summers (paint paste)

2nd: “The Lemon Study” by Charity Campbell (pencil)

3rd: “Untitled” by Elizabeth Esch (acrylic)

Honorable Mention: “Pink Elephant” by Gianna Lavastida (acrylic)

Art, ages 10 – 13 group:

1st: “Bear” by Cole Shipley (paper)

2nd: “Flowers” by Sara Lavastida (acrylic)

3rd: “Dancing Deer” by Angel Melancon (crayons)

Honorable Mention: “Happy Design” by Treasure Wells (markers)

The exhibit will be on display until September 28 at the church (36367 Old Perkins Road, Prairieville). Viewing will be on Sundays, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, and also when the church office is open.
