Car show will benefit The Little Angels Foundation

Supporters of The Little Angel Foundation are going to offer a car show in March: The 1st Annual Remembering the Angels Car Show.

Tickets are free, but it will cost $25 to register any cars, trucks, classics, hot rods, rat rods, customs and bikes.

The benefit will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on March 9 at Don's Seafood Hut, 2405 Cabela's Pkwy in Gonzales.

A spokesperson said the foundation builds caskets for children birth to high school senior, free of charge.

2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt Adventure

The Elite Queens Social Club's 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt Adventure will be held, from 1-4 p.m., on Saturday, March 23, at Duplessis Primary School Park, Hwy 621 Gonzales. Bring the kids out to this free event that will feature games, prizes, music and a large Easter Egg Hunt!

The Monthly Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the Chapter Meeting Room at St. Amant Park on Stringer Bridge Road. Tax Assessor informational meetings

The Ascension Parish Assessor's Office will host Community Informational Meetings, beginning in March, as part of Assessor Smiley's community outreach. The meetings will be held in various locations throughout the parish so that everyone will have a chance to participate at his/her convenience.

The Giving Quilt, Inc.'s Kids Draw for Kids

Kids Draw for Kids, sponsored by the National Quilting Association, is a community outreach project in which school age children can help make a quilt by drawing a quilt block. The block will be sewn into a quilt to be donated to a deserving child through Baton Rouge Quilts for Kids. Adult supervision and all materials are provided.

This event will be held at the Giving Quilt Exhibit, April 6, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, 9039 S Street Landry Road, Gonzales. The exhibit is open to the public and admission is free.

Kids Draw for Kids is funded by the National Quilting Association and participation in the project is free.

Women of Aviation Week

The Institute for Women of Aviation Worldwide announces the 3rd annual Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week, March 4-10. Held annually during the week of March 8, anniversary date of the first female pilot certificate worldwide, the week aims to foster diversity in aviation by celebrating history, raising awareness, and sparking vocations as thousands of girls and women are introduced to aviation through industry-wide collaboration.

Louisiana Regional Airport will be hosting its "Fly It Forward" Saturday, March 9, at the airport in celebration of the event.

First St. Amant Alumni Baseball Game set

The St. Amant High School baseball program is excited to hold their first Gator Alumni Baseball Game. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at 3:30 p.m.

The format will include a six-inning game between alumni members (even-numbered years vs. odd-numbered years). The only requirements to participate in the alumni game is that all players must have been a three or four-year member of the program and register for the game.

A home run derby will begin at 3:30 with the Alumni Game to follow. Dinner will be provided after the game.

Your participation in the first Gator Alumni Baseball Game will continue the successful tradition of those who proudly wear the black and gold.

Hot to Trot/4-Alarm Fundraiser

The Pelican Point's Hot to Trot/4-Alarm Fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 27, at the Pelican Point's Club House, Gonzales. This fundraiser benefits the 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Department. The 1 Mile and 5K run/walk race will start at 8 a.m. Ages 3-15 will be $10 and 16 and above $20; family $40 (2 adults and up to 4 children). Entry includes race T-shirt, pancake breakfast and prizes. Sheriff's Scholarship Program

Tthe Louisiana Sheriff's Scholarship Program will award scholarships providing assistance to worthy Louisiana students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriff's Honorary Membership Program.

Sheriff Jeff Wiley will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to the recipient and a $500 scholarship to an alternate for the 2012-13 school year.

Cangelosi Dance Project Dance Camp 2013

Cangelosi Dance Project will hold four weeks of morning dance camp from 8 a.m. - noon in June 2013 for ages seven through fourteen. Each week will provide various methods of study in the following disciplines: Classical ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern Dance, Tap Dance, and Dance Exercise. In addition to these intensive camps there are four Leisure camps for children ages 7 through 12 years of age including Jazz Dance, theatre, music, movie and crafting costumes.

The school will hold four weeks of evening dance classes ages three through adult classes in all the above disciplines of dance. Registration is from March 15 through May 15. The intensive study faculty is: Kris Cangelosi, Renee Chatelain, Ashleigh Dowden, Teresa Whitaker and Ashley McCullough and our Leisure Camp teachers are Hannah Willson, Alyssa Kling, Joel Willson, Jessica Kennedy and instructors from CDP.
