Rhythm & Boos Halloween Fundraiser

There will be a Rhythm & Boos Halloween Fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 27 at Swamp Pop Café, Hwy. 22, Head of Island. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to David Watts, a cancer patient. The event features a free to enter Costume Contest, with first and second place cash prizes. Prizes will be awarded for individuals and couples. Also, adult face painting, door prizes, 50/50 drawing, and a regular bar will be open and available. Jambalaya plates will be served from 6 p.m. until gone, donation is $5/plate. Music by Lil Bit Meaux, from 8 p.m.-midnight with a $5 donation cover charge.

Pet Adoption Event

Fall Jambalaya Fundraiser

Dutchtown High School Wrestling team is hosting a Fall Jambalaya Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 27. Jambalaya will be ready for pick up at noon from Ascension Tire & Automotive, located at 38526 Hwy. 42, Prairieville. The phone number is 673-4384 in case you want to call ahead and reserve plates for your family or business.

Dutchtown Wrestling Team uses this money to help buy uniforms, pay for traveling and tournament costs. Coaches are Mike Pernat and Derek Grider.

3rd Annual Boo at the Barn

St. Amant FFA will host its 3rd Annual Boo at the Barn, from 4-8 p.m., on Wed., Oct. 31. The event will feature a Petting Zoo, tons of games, hay ride, pumpkin patch, hot dog roast, face painting, Trick or Treat candy stations, sweets table, pumpkin decorating, and more. Held off Hwy. 431 behind St. Amant High Shell Lot in the Agriscience Field.

All proceeds will benefit local food banks. The organization is asking visitors to bring a can good for free entry. Entry without a can will run $1 with all proceeds going to local food banks. More details can be found at www.stamantffa.com

Kids Jump-N-Jive

A Jump-N-Jive, hosted by the Ascension Fair Association and Mt. Gillion Baptist Church, will take place, from 5-7 p.m., on Oct. 29, at Jump N Jive, 17573 Old Jefferson Hwy, Prairieville. Hendersons' 7th Anniversary

Ascension Chamber Business Expo set

The Chamber of Commerce will host a "Business" Expo, beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing until 6 p.m., on Thurs., Nov. 1, at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. The Expo will take the place of the November Monthly Member's Luncheon and is designed to be the premier introduction to businesses in and around the Ascension community. The Expo will also be a opportunity for participants to make face to face contact with potential customers, including fellow vendors as well as a chance to generate immediate sales and leads.

General admission is free and open to the public. Not only will there be complimentary food samples and beverages for those who attend, but 2 Ipads will be given away and attendees will be able to take a chance to win a new car or $25,000.

School Raffle

Black Dragon Martial Arts is selling raffle tickets to help raise money for mats for the school and its Little Dragons Program. The prizes are great for the up-coming holiday season. Tickets are $3 each.

Annual Make A Difference Day

Oct. 27 marks the 15th year that Volunteer Ascension has participated in Make a Difference Day, a national day of volunteering sponsored by the Points of Light Institute & Hands on Network.

The day is designed to challenge volunteers nationwide to spend time "making a difference" in their communities and in the lives of others. Millions have participated in this nationwide effort.

Pick a project, and then register your individual or corporate projects with Volunteer Ascension. Some "Make a Difference Day" projects take place earlier in the year due to planning and group availability, but those projects are highlighted along with the projects that take place now through Oct. 27. PPHOA Fall Festival

The Pelican Point Homeowner's Association is holding their Annual Fall Fest/Canned Food Drive in Ascension Parish, from 6-9 p.m., on Sat. Oct. 27.
