The Gonzales Fraternal Order of Police will host a "BBQ Fundraiser," from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Fri., Oct. 19, at 415 E. Cornerview, Gonzales. Lunch includes barbecue brisket, beans, salad, bread and dessert. Plates can be picked up at Gonzales P.D., 415 E. Huge Benefit Garage Sale

A huge benefit garage sale will take place, from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12 at The Rock Church, 42080 Churchpoint Rd., Gonzales.

Huge indoor 'Garage Sale'

A huge indoor "Garage Sale," will be held, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m., on Fri., Oct. 12 and Sat., Oct. 13, in the St. Amant High School commons area, 12035 Hwy. 431. Rain or shine! The event, hosted by St. Amant FFA Alumni, is being held to raise funds for travel to National FFA Convention and construction cost new the Agiscience barn.

Annual Cancer Awareness Program

Community Sisterhood's Annual Cancer Awareness Program will take place at 3:30 p.m., Sun., Oct. 14, at the Geismar Community Center, 12060 Hwy. 73, Geismar. They will be launching balloons to honor all the brave warriors fighting Cancer.

Bingo at St. Mark Church

St. Mark Catholic Church Light Lane Festival committee will present bingo, from noon to 3:30 p.m., on Oct. 14, at the Activity Center, located at 42021 Hwy. 621, Gonzales. Ten games of bingo for $50 (9 bingo cards per game sheet) minimum prize $150 per game. Special 11th game of Blackout, $5 per 3 card sheet. Half of the proceeds from the Blackout sales will be the prize. Mini tab bingo and lunch will be available for purchase for $6 (jambalaya, white beans, salad and drink. Additional drinks can be purchase. Three doors prizes will be given away.

'Gift Cards' asked for Wounded Warriors

Women Veterans of Louisiana (WVOLA) and Mike McNaughton of the Louisiana Veterans Affairs Office ask for your support with donations of "Gift Cards" for our Wounded Warriors. These gift cards will be distributed to the Wounded Warriors and their families at Brooke Army Medical and Burn Center in San Antonio, Texas.

WVOLA will have a table set up at the St Amant High vs Woodlawn High football game on Oct. 12 at the Pit (St Amant Middle School). All you have to do is purchase a gift card in any amount and bring it to the game. WVOLA will also accept monetary donations to purchase cards.

Even if you are not going to the St Amant High game you can still make a donation. All you have to do is purchase a gift card in any amount and contact Anna Sanders at (225) 572-8314 or Tanya Whitney at (225) 612-0805 for pick up.

Divine Grace Temple Anniversary

Local church to host Candlelight Vigil

The Emmanuel Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Charles Brown Sr., during their bible study, from 7-8 p.m., on Thurs., Oct. 11 will host a Candlelight Vigil entitled "Remember My Name" in honor of those whose lives have been lost as a result of Domestic Violence. They are requesting participants bring old cell phones to this event. They will be refurbished and given to individuals that are in shelters to call 911 only if needed.

'Kisses from Katie'

Have you heard of the book "Kisses from Katie" about a 24-yr-old American girl who moved to Uganda to help the poor children of that country? She started Amazina Ministries and can really use community help. Philippians Church wants to help at Christmas by giving inexpensive items that she needs for the 13 girls she has adopted and live in her home. Church members will collect the following donated items and send them to Uganda: Wheat Thins, elastic headbands, black hair ties, toothpaste, tuna, beef jerky, shampoo, icing for cakes, Velveeta cheese, hazelnut creamer, and solid color shirts and below the knee skirts and dresses (size 3T – girls' 14). Seats for Seizures

The public is invited to the 3rd Annual Epilepsy Foundation of Louisiana Galas "Seats for Seizure." The event will take place, from 6-9 p.m., Sun., Oct. 14, at Price LeBlanc Lezus. The event is $100 per person to attend with all proceeds going to the Epilepsy Foundation. Honoree will be Dr. Carolyn Baker. There will be live music, a silent auction and valet parking. PPHOA Fall Festival

The Pelican Point Homeowner's Association is holding their Annual Fall Fest/Canned Food Drive in Ascension Parish, from 6-9 p.m., on Sat. Oct. 27. It will be held in the Main Street building parking lot, directly in front of the neighborhood. The event is free to all residents and only $5 for guests. There will be plenty of food with live entertainment and vendors from all over.

Free Fall Festival & Health Fair

The public invited to the Ascension Baptist Church Free Fall Festival & Health Fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sat., Oct. 20. There will be food, games, jumbo slide, cupcake walk, football toss, petting zoo, and much, much more. The church is located at 13432 Airline Highway, Gonzales, next to Supreme Chevrolet.

A Health Fair will be sponsored. Stop by for details of services. A flyer will be available listing the Health Fair offerings.

Membership Drive

The Ascension Council on Aging is holding its annual membership drive until Oct. 15. Membership in the council is open without restrictions to parish residents who have reached the age of majority. There is no fee for membership. Persons interested in the problems and concerns of the elderly and wishing to serve in some capacity may apply at 526 South Irma Boulevard in Gonzales and 101 Bocage Drive in Donaldsonville.

The annual meeting of the Ascension Council on Aging will take place at the Gonzales Senior Center at 6 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 29.

St. Amant Middle Fall Festival

St. Amant Middle School will host its second annual Fall Festival, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Sat., Oct. 13, at St. Amant Middle School, 44317 Hwy. 429, St. Amant. The festival is open to the public.

There will be music, food, arts and crafts, games, pictures with characters, raffles, face painting, train rides and inflatables. Merchandise to be sold by vendors range from hair bows, jewelry, gifts by Trendy Treasures, Avon, diet items, kids' toys, kitchen items, Fleur De Bling T-shirts and accessories, flip flops, Scentsy items, wreaths, and much, much more. Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office will be available to do Kids' IDs, and the popular "Cash for Gold" will be there to buy your old or unwanted gold items.

There will be a raffle booth for a chance to win items such as Christmas and LSU wreaths, Scentsy Warmer, LSU & Saints flip flops, LSU watch from Layne's jewelry, LSU ice chest, Rave Movie Tickets, Pampered Chef items, Carlico Café gift card, picture frames, candles, AMA Karate sessions, jewelry, Tate Tuillier Photography gift certificate, rounds of golf at Pelican Point, football autographed by the 2012 LSU football team and much more.

Wednesday Bingo

The American Legion Post 81, 421 E. City, Gonzales, holds bingo every Wednesday night. Everyone is welcome. Children are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 7:30 p.m.

Weekend Bingo

VFW Post 3693, bingo Friday and Saturday nights. Children six years and older are welcome, must buy at least a $5 book. Doors open at 6 p.m., bingo starts at 7:30 p.m.
