Maurepas High School Reunion

A Maurepas High School Reunion will take place Friday July 6, at 7:30 p.m. Participants are asked to join in at Swamp Pop Café for an evening of fun, food and entertainment. Annual Zydeco/Blues Mambo Fundraiser 

Dutchtown Youth Football and Cheer League is hosting their Annual Zydeco/Blues Mambo Fundraiser featuring Keith Frank and the Soulieu Zydeco Band, June 29, at the Lamar Dixon Trade Center Building.  

Persons interested in attended can make an Individual donations of $ 30, Couple $ 50 and for groups of 10 a $400 donation will also include hor devours and beverages.  Group arrangements will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Ongoing Painting Classes

River Region Art Association offers ongoing painting lessons for both adults and children at the Art Gumbo Center at 1835 N. Magnolia Ave. in Gonzales. Instructor, Wendy Hazey offers Youth Classical Oil Painting for ages 8-18 on Wednesday afternoon from 4:30-6 p.m. Her classes are $25 each week. Contact Wendy at 225-907-6302 for any details. 

Instructor, Jan Hebert offers Painting for Adults using either oils or acrylics on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a fee of $45 a month (for 4 weeks). Call Jan at 225-933-1582 for more information on adult classes.      

Wednesday Bingo

The American Legion Post 81, 421 E. City, Gonzales, holds bingo every Wednesday night. Everyone is welcome. Children are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book. 

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 7:30 p.m.

Weekend Bingo 

VFW Post 3693, 42430 Church Point Road, Gonzales, offers bingo every Friday and Saturday. Children six years and older are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book.

TOPS LA 422 meet 

Take Off Pounds Sensibly LA 422 Prairieville meets on Thursday evenings. Private TOPS weigh-ins are from 5:30-6 p.m. and meetings are from 6-7 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge. To find out more information about TOPS, call 313-3180.

HOPE Support Group Meetings

Ochsner Medical Center Baton Rouge’s Family Birthing Center will now offer support group meetings for families dealing with the loss of an infant. The HOPE – Helping to Overcome Perinatal/Neonatal Loss through Empowerment - support group meetings will be offered every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s first floor classrooms. All support group meetings are free and open to the public. For more information call 236-5898.

Epilepsy Support Group meets

The Epilepsy Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month. 

The meeting is held at the NeuroMedical Center, 10101 Park Rowe, 6th Floor, Baton Rouge, from 7-8:30 p.m.

Bayou Manchac Group to meet

The Bayou Manchac Group is a citizen organization working to balance watershed development with conservation. General meetings are held the last Wednesday of alternate months, and begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Prairieville Branch of the Ascension Parish Library, 40300 Hwy 42 in Prairieville. St. Amant High 25th Class Reunion

The St. Amant High Class of 1987 Reunion is scheduled for Aug. 18, from 8 p.m.-midnight, at the Grand Pavillion. The cost is $40 per person.
