Mayor Barney Arceneaux announced plans for a new, free concert series in Jambalaya Park.

Arceneaux, along with the Mayor’s Council for the Arts, has developed a plan to use the amphitheatre in the park as the location for free concerts to begin on Sunday, March 27.

The series will continue on April 3, April 10 and April 17, which each event lasting from 2 - 5 p.m.

“These events should be a lot of fun,” said Arceneaux. “It’s a way of bringing the community together.”

Last month, an ordinance was changed to allow for the serving of wine at the park during the concert series.

Currently, the Mayor’s Council for the Arts is at 50 percent of its proposed budget for bands and signage, with a majority of the money coming from private donations.
