Auditions set for commemoration of Baton Rouge bus boycott
Dance auditions will be held for the “The Fading Line,” a commemoration of the 1953 Baton Rouge Bus Boycott, Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2p.m.
Auditions will be held in the Hartley-Vey Studio Theatre at the Manship Theatre.
Ages 12 and up are invited; some acting and dancing is required, no formal experience necessary.
This multi-media dance performance tells the story of the first successful bus, boycott in the United States. Dancers will portray life prior to the boycott, the steps taken by African Americans in Baton Rouge to stamp out segregation on buses, and ultimately, a celebration of diversity.
This Manship Theatre project is produced in partnership with New Venture Theatre, Mid City Dance Project, and the St. Gabriel Community Center.
