Register now for Arc seminar 

A new federal rule will change the way individuals with disabilities receive services. Arc is holding informative seminars on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. Registration is due March 17.

On March 31 a seminar will be held specifically for home and community-based services. On April 1, the seminar will be focused on individuals and family members.

The speaker is Laura Brackin, Ph.D., owner of a disability consulting firm and an expert in the disability field. The cost is $65 for Social Workers, Case Managers and Educators; $55 for Arc Administrators; $45 for advocates for persons with disabilities; and $35 for Arc members.

Arc honors Disability Awareness Month with fun day

The Arc of East Ascension would like to announce their annual Family Fun Day, to be held March 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KC Hall at 230 South Irma Blvd. in Gonzales.

There will be food, fun and prizes, including Trixie the Clown, games and DJ Troy. The event is sponsored by Police Chief Sherman Jackson and his cooking team, SACS Western, Coca-cola, Zapp's Potato Chips, Respectful Gentleman Social Club, Knights of Columbus, Tanya Jones (Mrs. Exquisite, Queen) and Raymond and Monica Jackson (Specialty Snow Balls).

"This is the day that Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it," Norma Dukes, Executive Director said. "I would like to thank my wonderful staff, all donor and sponsors. The best is yet to come."
