The members of River Region Art Association pursue their passion for creativity by bringing art out into the community.
Learn Oil Painting with Jan Hebert
Local artist, Jan Hebert, leads an ongoing class at the Depot Gallery at 1008 W. La. 30, Gonzales. Students may learn oil or acrylic painting class every Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Students paint from in-Studio still life set-ups or may bring their own project. The class is for beginner and intermediate painters and covers basic oil painting techniques and composition. The fee is $45 for four classes and students are responsible for furnishing their own painting supplies. Call the Art Depot Gallery at (225) 644-8496.
Painting with a Twist
As part of their commit to bring art out into the community, River Region members, Betty Marks and Diane Tygier, are guiding the residents of Azalea Estates in Painting with a Twist (the twist being wine, cheese and crackers.) Classes scheduled to continue until the end of the year.
Calling all Photographers
River Region Art Association embraces and encourages all forms of artwork. The annual photography exhibit, Click Art is scheduled for Aug.19-29. Photographers may enter by bringing up to three original photographs, framed and wired for hanging, to the Art Depot Gallery on Aug 14, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. or Aug 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The public, as well as all RRAA members are invited to participate. Visitors to the exhibit will get to vote for their favorite photographs and, thus, determine the winners of the competition. There will be a public reception at Art Depot on August 29, 6 p.m. to 8 pm. Contact exhibit chair Helen Haw at (225) 622-4496.
River Region Art Association member, Loveday Funck, will be returning to the new artist cooperative and venue in the arts district of Baton Rouge, Studio 524, located at 524 N. Foster St., Baton Rouge on Aug. 1.
On hand will be performances by Jay Michael & The Delicate Psychle, as well as fire dancing by Luminosity Productions.
Loveday Funck will be hanging several new pieces for display in company with several local Baton Rouge area artists, including Michael Carambat, Michael A Walker, Cindy Wunderbar, Irie Bohemia, Rick LeCompte, Camary Anastasia, Whitney Tucker and venue organizer, Michelle Elder.
