Final concert in Music in the Park series slated for Sunday, May 3

Gonzales – The Mayor’s Council on the Arts, in association with Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux and the City of Gonzales, invites fans of zydeco and dancing to join them at Jambalaya Park on Sunday, May 3, for the final in their four-part free concert series, Music in the Park.
Rockin’ Dopsie will take to the Jambalaya Park stage at 2 p.m. and continue until 5 p.m. Rockin’ Dopsie is no stranger to the many Music in the Park events that have been held now for four years, and is always a crowd pleaser, not only with his zydeco sound, but his energy and enthusiasm for the concert series and his love for the City of Gonzales.
Dopsie’s website claims that, “Rockin' Dopsie Jr. (pronounced Doopsie) is considered the ultimate entertainer bringing a high energy stage show that has led to him being called the James Brown of Zydeco, but that's not all - throw in some New Orleans Funkiness with a Gumbo of Soul, R N B and the Dopsie brothers Anthony on accordion and Tiger on drums plus the top notch musicianship of The Zydeco Twisters and you have the best high energy show around.”
Add to that the fact that attendees get to see this on stage phenomenon for free, and it’s an event you won’t want to miss.
Hundreds of revelers have been showing up for the last three concerts, featuring The Boogie Men, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas and Chris LeBlanc with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Luther Kent and Greg Wright.
So come pass a good time with us in Gonzales on May 3. Bring a chair, and get ready to move those feet as you meet the man himself, Rockin’ Dopsie, and become part of Zydeco’s Royal Family.
