2019 Senior Citizen Luncheon held at St. John The Evangelist Activity Center

A luncheon was held at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church new Activity Center in Prairieville on Wednesday, October 16 to honor the senior citizens in Ascension Parish.

The annual Senior Citizen Luncheon is sponsored by the St. John the Evangelist Knights of Columbus and the Ladies Altar Society. There were about 175 attendees including invited guests from Azalea Estates Assisted Living, Magnolia Assisted Living, Gonzales Healthcare Center, Ascension Oaks and Francois Bend Assisted Living as well as parishioners from St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church.

Lunch was prepared by Gonzales Jambalaya Festival 4-time Golden Paddle winner Byron Gautreau. Music was provided this year by Jim Bullion. As in the past, the Gonzales Lion's Club made a generous donation showing their support for the senior citizens in our community. Gifts were also received from the Ascension Parish President's Office and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

Door prizes were provided by many merchants in the Ascension Parish and surrounding areas.
