Once you've been touched by cancer, whether it be yourself or someone you know, you do everything you can to help win the fight against it.

Beginning October 15, Gordon McKernan will be sending out pink buses in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"Gordon's mother was affected by breast cancer, so that's part of why we decided to do this. The other reason is because one of our attorney's actually passed away from lung cancer recently. So, we're not only doing it for breast cancer, but cancer in general now," Pam Jones, the Marketing Director for Gordon McKernan, said.

Mckernan will be paying for the pink bus rides, as well as matching the bus fares, then donating that to the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen. There will be two buses in Baton Rouge, and two buses in Shreveport.

"Instead of just doing this for October, we've decided to run the buses for the rest of the year. This way, we can help focus on cancer for more than just one month of the year, Jones said.

This is the first year the firm is doing this, and there is potential for them to do it again next year.

If you get the chance to ride one of the pink buses, remember that your ride is helping win the fight against cancer.
