Watch Out for Snakes

Repticon, a recognized leader in hosting reptile and exotic animal expos throughout the United States, is coming back to Lamar Dixon in Gonzales March 24-25 with an outstanding mixture of vendors, breeders, and educators. This family-oriented, fun-filled event offers guests the opportunity to learn about animals not normally seen in local pet stores. The doors open to the general public at 10 a.m. on Saturday, closing at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the show hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. At the door, tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and children under 5 are admitted free. I-10 Lane Closures

Single lane closures will take place on I-10 from Highland Rd. to HWY 73 starting February 19 through February 26. These will be tapered lane closures and only one lane per direction will be closed at a time. Closure times are as follows:

Mississippi College President's List

The Mississippi College Office of Academic Affairs releases the president's list after the close of fall and spring semesters each academic year. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average, based on a 4.0 system. The student must take a full course load of at least 12 semester hours of undergraduate credit with all academic courses impacting their grade point average. The following local students were named to the President's List at Mississippi College for Fall 2017: Madison Batarseh of Saint Amant and Bailey Cyprowski of Prairieville. Stephen Tibbetts of Prairieville was named to the Dean's List.

Inaugural Entertainment Summit

The Inaugural Louisiana Entertainment Summit will provide an opportunity to engage with regional and local allies and entertainment industry professionals. Participants will learn how Governor Edwards’ vision and direction, along with the legislature’s support, enhanced Louisiana’s entertainment programs and produced exciting new opportunities for industry professionals and the state. The Summit will emphasize the importance of this industry sector to Louisiana’s overall economy. It will be held Tuesday, March 27 at L'Auberge Casino in Baton Rouge. Cost is $50. Register online.

Roads to Close for Reconstruction

Ascension Parish Department of Public Works announced that North Robert Wilson Road and Rayco Sanders Road will be closed to thru traffic beginning Tuesday, February 20 until Wednesday, February 28. The roads will be open to local traffic only. The closures are necessary to perform road reconstruction.
