Entergy Louisiana celebrates Southeast Region with We Power Life event
Entergy Louisiana celebrated local organizations and nonprofit agencies Tuesday, November 14 during the We Power Life – Southeast Region event at Chef John Folse Culinary Institute.
“At Entergy, we’re not just looking at what’s on the horizon for today, tomorrow, or next year. We want our communities to prosper for years to come,” said Phillip May, president and CEO of Entergy Louisiana. “Today, we’re celebrating invaluable partnerships with local agencies that will continue to help us build vibrant, healthy communities. By working with organizations that have similar goals, I know we really can power life in the Southeast Louisiana region."
Entergy shareholders invested more than $10.9 million in charitable contributions to Louisiana nonprofits and community partners in 2016. In the past two years, Entergy awarded just over 90 grants in the Southeast Region, totaling around $300,000. The monies have gone toward projects that range from education and anti-poverty initiatives to economic development and the environment.
“We know that we can only be as successful as the communities that we serve,” said Jody Montelaro, Entergy Louisiana vice president of public affairs. “It’s why we focus our philanthropic giving around education, poverty solutions, environmental programs and economic development initiatives that improve quality of life.”
As a special thank you, agencies were invited to enter a drawing to win additional partner appreciation grants. To win an additional grant, agencies had to submit a photo of one of the events that Entergy helped sponsor. Agencies that won additional grants included Girl Scouts Louisiana East, Village of Napoleonville, Bayou Country Children’s Museum, South Louisiana Economic Council and Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation.
