The Mountaintop

Written by Ayad Akhtar, Directed by Femi Euba November 8 – November 19 Reilly Theatre – LSU. The season begins with the Olivier Award-winning play, "The Mountaintop." This re-imagined final night of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. portrays him as passionate and flawed human being who shares his last hours delving deeper into his hopes and dreams with a mysterious hotel maid. Director Femi Euba, himself the subject of the recently published biography African Modernity and the Philosophy of Culture in the Works of Femi Euba by Iyunolu Osagie, uses fantastical elements to explore the ever present mortal dangers weighing on Dr. King and his burning longing to continue until his dream of equality is achieved. Moving, funny and very human, this production promises to open minds and move hearts.Performance Dates - 11/8, 11/9, 11/10, 11/14, 11/15, 11/16, 11/17, 11/18 at 7:30 p.m.
