Don't forget to GEAUX VOTE! Early voting for the October 14, 2017 Primary election will begin on Saturday, September 30 through October 7. This election is being held to elect a new State Treasurer, a State Representative for District 58, three (3) statewide Propositions, and the City of Gonzales Proposition. Voters may check to see what is on their ballot at For more information, voters may call the Registrar of Voters offices at 225-621-5780 (Gonzales) or 225-473-7906 (Donaldsonville). Early voting is conducted in the Registrar of Voters offices in Gonzales at 828 S Irma Blvd, Rm 205 and in Donaldsonville at 300 Houmas St., Ste B. The hours of early voting are from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Don't forget! A valid picture ID is required!

LA 18 (St. James Parish) Road Closure

A road closure will take place daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on LA 18 northbound & southbound on Saturday, October 7, 2017 and Saturday, October 14, 2017. No thru traffic will be allowed to pass during this road closure. The closure will be from Sydney Rd. to Syongy Ln. The closure is necessary for the installation of steel girders for the pipe rack across LA 18 for YCI’s MOF project.

In the event of an emergency, the limestone diversion road adjacent to LA 18 will be available for emergency vehicles to pass through the closure. No regular traffic will be allowed to use this during the closure times. Detour routes for non-emergency vehicles are as follows:

Northbound – Take LA 18 to LA 3219 turn right on LA 3127, then right on LA 70 to LA 18.

Southbound – Take LA 18, turn left on LA 70, and turn left on 3127 to LA 3219 to LA 18.

Governor's board appointment

Alliece G. Cole, of Prairieville, was appointed to the Human Trafficking Prevention Commission Advisory Board. Cole is the Director of Anti Human Trafficking Initiatives for HP Serve. As required by statute, she was nominated by the executive director of the Children’s Cabinet.

Cassidy responds to Senator John McCain's statement

September 22, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA) released a statement following Senator John McCain’s (R-AZ) decision to not support Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson:

I am disappointed that Senator John McCain is not voting to repeal and replace Obamacare. But, as long as there are families being penalized because they can’t afford insurance costing $30,000 to $40,000 a year, I will continue to work for those families.”

I-12, Livingston Parish, Lane Closure

I-12, eastbound and westbound travel lanes, from Approx. 3 miles west of Livingston (LA 63) to 1 mile east of LA 441 (Holden), will be closed Monday, September 25, 2016 through Friday, September 29, 2016 from 8:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m., nightly (weather permitting). At least one lane will remain open at all times. These lane closures are to allow crews to lay asphalt onto the roadway. Motorists may take US 190 as an alternate route to avoid nightly lane closures during construction. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
