Audit report-Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs (Statewide)

Auditors found that GOEA did not properly allocate state appropriations for senior centers, resulting in incorrect allocations to all 64 parish councils on aging. From fiscal year 2015 to fiscal year 2017, 55 parish councils were over-allocated funds totaling $2,070,657 and the remaining nine were under-allocated by $2,070,657. The differences ranged from $591,462 over-allocated to Jefferson Parish to $1,449,973 under-allocated to Ouachita Parish. In addition to the senior center appropriations, auditors also looked at transactions and procedures related to travel expenses, payroll expenses, SenioRx expenses, movable property, and Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act grant expenses.
