On Monday, June 20, Ascension's own, Kelly Williams, battled it out on Food Network's "Cake Wars", along with assistant, Holly Sigur Broussard, of Prairieville, owner of Sweet Elizabeth's bakery.

The team concocted two Charlie Brown themed cakes for the win, and got a chance to present the winning cake at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Peanuts comic.

"The details are amazing," judge Ron Ben-Israel declared of Williams' creation featuring Charlie Brown and his pals at the would-be baseball game in Charlie Brown's All-Stars. Guest judge Lindsey Schulz — the granddaughter of Charles Schulz, the creator of Charlie Brown — was impressed with the design as well, as she told Williams, "Everything looks like it was pulled directly out of a strip in the special."

Williams celebrated the show's premiere with 200 guests at an all-white party held at Blooming Yoga Studio in Geismar.

"It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life - baking a cake in four hours that would normally take 3 to 4 days," Williams said. "I did what I had to do and I made it happen, and I won Cake Wars!"

Along with high honors, Williams also took him a $10,000 cash prize.
