St. Elizabeth to offer flu shots at UCB Monday

Staff reports

PRAIRIEVILLE – St. Elizabeth Physicians will be administering seasonal flu shots to the general public at the United Community Bank in Prairieville at 17257 Airline Hwy on Dec. 14.

The shots will be offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Individuals are encouraged to arrive early as quantities are limited, and to also bring an insurance card and identification.

Annual outbreaks of the seasonal flu usually occur during the late fall through early spring. Many people have a natural immunity, however a vaccine is available and recommended because in a typical year, approximately five to 20 percent of the population gets the seasonal Flu and about 36,000 flu-related deaths are reported (www.flu.gov).

“We are approaching the heart of flu season and being prepared by making the vaccine available is key in prevention,” said Sonny Aldridge of United Community Bank.
